What it does
You connect your accounts, choose which contact lists feed which, and uaisync keeps the destination list merged: the same person found in several lists becomes one contact, and each list keeps what you gave it.
- Google and CardDAV. Google Contacts and CardDAV servers (Nextcloud, Radicale, Fastmail and others) today; more providers later.
- Look before it writes. The first run is a dry run: you see what would change and approve it. Nothing is written before that.
- A safety stop. If a run would change or delete more than a set share of the destination, it stops and tells you instead.
- Your contacts stay yours. Contacts are kept encrypted with a key that belongs to your account, and deleting your account deletes them. See the privacy policy.
How it uses your Google data
uaisync asks Google for access to your contacts (the contacts scope) and for your sign-in identity and
e-mail address (openid, email). It reads the contacts in “My Contacts” to merge them, and writes to a
contact list only when you chose it as the destination of a sync. It does not use “Other contacts”.
The privacy policy says what is stored, for how long, and how to delete it all.
